HOW IT WORKS
Shrunken Heads is run by an student board, but each show is guided by its very own production team. This usually includes the director, music director, vocal director, choreographer(s), designers, and tech personnel​.

We are currently seeking a director and choreographer for our mainstage show, Something Rotten! UCSB students of any background can apply by October 2nd to undergo an interview process on October 4th-7th. ​

About the Roles
DIRECTOR
The director interprets the script and guides actors to produce their vision for the show. They also work with the rest of the production team to create a clear image and direction for the show on all creative levels.

MUSIC DIRECTOR
The music director is responsible for teaching the cast their vocal parts as well as leading the pit orchestra during rehearsals and performances. They collaborate with the creative team to help steer the cast and crew toward the vision of the show through music.
VOCAL DIRECTOR
The vocal director works closely with the music director. Their main job is to help the cast learn their vocal parts, warm up, or fine tune the cast’s vocal techniques and inflections.
CHOREOGRAPHER
The choreographer is in charge of all dance movements on stage. Their job is to create choreography for the show, teach it to the cast, and clean it as the rehearsal process progresses. They work with the creative team to create choreography that enhances the world of the show.
LIGHTING DESIGNER
The lighting designer uses their creativity to enhance the stage and show through lighting. They work closely with the production team and officers of technical theatre.
SOUND DESIGNER
The sound designer is in charge of building the world of our show through sound. This is done through sound effects and timing, as well as managing the cast’s and orchestra’s microphones and sound levels. They work closely with the officers of technical theatre, as well.
SCENIC DESIGNER
The scenic designer has a role in the physical aspects of the show. They are responsible for designing and enhancing the set of the production.
